CW2. Introducing Mobile Learning

Abstract

This workshop introduces participants to simple, accessible ways of integrating mobile technologies into language teaching. It examines four mobile technologies and techniques,in order of increasing complexity: language apps, multimedia recording, QR codes, and augmented reality.

For each technology or technique, a brief explanation is followed by examples of educational uses, with particular emphasis on language teaching and learning. Participants who bring their own internet-connected mobile devices will have the option to download and briefly experiment with relevant apps at each stage.

Mark Pegrum is an Associate Professor in the Graduate School of Education at The University of Western Australia, where he teaches in the areas of e-learning and m-learning. His current research focuses on mobile technologies and digital literacies.
