PA202. Scaffold Approach: Breaking Blocks to Comprehension

Abstract

This presentation features a practical approach supported with  theoretical concepts on how teachers can utilize learner's schemata as avenue in building legitimate comprehension  and vocabulary enhancement. Further, students are immersed into deductive  or top -down discussion that will lead them to a precise understanding of a reading text.

Laura Gato has been an educator for 30 years. She has taught at Universities and Colleges both in the Philippines and Oman. At present, she is the QA coordinator  at the Language and Linguistics Department at Rustaq College of Applied Sciences.

Mr. Marco has been an EFL teacher for 20 years. He was a Language enhancement facilitator for both Korean and Chinese exchange students in the Philippines. At present,he teaches at the Language Centre,Sultan Qaboos University.
