PA219. Willingness to communicate in a learner-centred classroom

Abstract

Willingness to communicate (WTC) is a non-linguistic construct that would seem to be of obvious interest in the area of learner-centredness. A primary goal for EFL teachers should be to increase their students’ willingness to communicate as a whole class, in small groups, and dyads. In addition to providing opportunities for students to practise language skills, teachers also need to instill certain attributes in their students that are conducive for creating a communicative environment.
