PA222. Security in E-assessment: A Procedural Approach Against E-cheating

Abstract

Assessment is one area of ELT where ICT has been celebrated at the expense of highlighting possible problems. E-cheating is a technology-based instance of academic dishonesty that affects the reliability of e-assessment results. Foundation programme students under study justify e-cheating by referring to cultural and psychological factors, but they also point to the inadequacy of procedural arrangements of e-assessments. This paper identifies these inadequacies and proposes an organizational approach to consolidate the security of e-assessment.
