PA38. UDL (Universal Design to Learning) at Higher Education

Abstract

Most likely instructors' course rooms will have seats filled with students that will have one or several of the following problems: learning disabilities, physical and/or sensory disabilities, English language barriers, emotional challenges, low motivation or engagement. It is the intention of the presenters to show how the UDL model can help teachers detect student difficulties at an early stage in order to support students so that they achieve the basic learning outcomes.

Roslyn Billy-Mohamed, Dr.
Prince Sultan University College for Women
Roslyn Billy-Mohamed has over 16 years teaching experience in the fields of ESL/EFL, K-12 education,and higher education. She has a Ph.D. in Education with a focus in Curriculum and Instruction, and educational leadership.She is well experienced in teacher training, accreditation, and educational research.

Carmen Medina, Dr.
Prince Sultan University College for Women

Carmen Medina is Canadian-born bilingual English-Spanish instructor who works for the Spanish government, but is currently Assistant Professor at Prince Sultan University College for women in Saudi Arabia. She is a Fulbright Exchange teacher.Her PhD is on culture and language.
