PA68. English Learners' Dictionaries and University Students' Language Acquisition

Abstract

Learners’ dictionaries are a resource in ELT in universities. The wealth of information         contained within them can enhance the students’ language development and skills. In this study, the ability of users to interpret and produce texts using dictionary entries is investigated in order to establish whether learners perform better in reading comprehension and language production. The findings indicate that the dictionary use during reading comprehension did affect test results but not overall productive success.
