PS4. Cohort-based Learning

Abstract

Cohort-based learning is becoming increasingly popular in online, blended  and face-to-face education. It is defined as the formation of a cohort of students who use the power of interpersonal relationships to enhance learning, interpersonal interaction and support, and, ultimately, program completion. Cohort-based programs are characterized by the members’ intense group identification. Technology facilitates contacts among cohort members when they are not in face-to-face contact. This talk will explore curriculum development, teacher-learning strategies, idiosyncrasies of the typical cohort program learner, implications for practice, and the training and development of the team of facilitators. There will also be a case study.
