WS43. Imparting a Touch of Art to ESL Classrooms

Abstract

The presenters will introduce through this workshop the idea of integrating some forms of art, namely, paintings and poems into the ESL classroom. They will first shed light on the logic and rational behind this idea and the benefits it could bring to the classroom. They will also familiarize the participants with some methods of how art could be utilized to teach target vocabulary and language structures as well as to activate learners' schemata. The participants will then be provided with some art forms that they in groups will use to design activities for their classes (practical part).

Basim Al Mushaifri holds a Master's degree and teaches at Al Musanna College.He joined SQU in 1994 and then he taught for some years in the Ministry of Education,Oman.

Younis Al Zaabi, Mr.
Al Musanna College of Technology
Younis Al Zaabi teachers at Al Musanna College of Technolgy.He holds a Master's degree from the UK.
