WS53. Online Vocabulary Learning

Abstract

Using the traditional method of learning vocabulary which requires students to copy words and find out their definitions along with sentences only is a short term learning which can be easily forgotten after sometime and will not help students in their learning. Instead, students need to learn how to understand and use vocabulary in everyday situations as to improve their communication skills. The presenter will throw light on the following link: http://www.esl-lab.com/vocab/ which is designed to enhance vocabulary learning in context. It includes a list of common vocabulary accompanied with various tasks to expand their use of vocabulary.

Fatima Al Shihi is a regional supervisor in Musandam. She is interested in conducting workshops, making projects and organising different competitons. She has presented different topics at ELT at SQU and at CETs in Muscat. She has participated at TESOL Arabia in Cairo and Dubai.
